"Strawberry Jam," Strawberry Theater Workshop, 12th Ave Arts Building, Capitol Hill
Strawberry Jam is a three-week arts festival dedicated to providing local directors with the opportunity to grow their craft through practice. Motivated by an observation that Seattle's outstanding acting and playwriting communities are fueled by experimental forums not availabe to directors, SJAM was born in 2022 as a unique public workshop with the director at its center. Now in its third year, SJAM features veteran and emerging artists alike, working with texts ranging from classics to original works. For its audience, the event is a wide-ranging celebration of styles, visions, and voices packed into nine nights of relentless energy at 12th Ave Arts... All that makes a Strawberry Jam.

From the creators of 2014’s crowd favorite The Vaudevillians, experience the comedy, music, and saucy stylings of two of the Pacific Northwest’s standout entertainers.

"Sweets by Kate" Lowbrow Opera Collective, Theater Off Jackson, International District
When Elizabeth Brigmann’s father dies suddenly, she decides to return to the small town that shunned her for coming out as gay twelve years earlier. Amid the outwardly-cheery glow of 1950’s rural America, Elizabeth and her partner, Kate, must navigate the lurking disapproval of the town, the teetering success of Elizabeth’s family business, and her family's (quite literal) deals with the Devil. The Devil’s dirty (and downright Mozartian) scheme to run the young couple out of town hinges on his assertion that ‘American prejudice’ is immovable and that he can make the townspeople hate what they don’t understand with the smallest nudge. But – as Kate already knows and the Devil himself fears – people will surprise you.

"Clyde's," ArtsWest, West Seattle
2022 Tony Award® Nominated Best Play by
Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined)
Presented in Partnership with The Hansberry Project
“Feisty comedy is on the menu” (Washington Post) in two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage’s latest Broadway triumph. Creating the perfect sandwich is the shared quest of the formerly incarcerated kitchen staff of Clyde’s, a truck stop cafe. Even as the shop’s mischievous owner tries to keep them under her thumb, the staffers are given purpose and permission to dream—finding that “sometimes a hero is more than a sandwich” (New York Times).
“Nottage’s delightful play dares to flip the paradigm. Though it’s still about dark things, including prison, drugs, homelessness and poverty, it somehow turns them into bright comedy.” – The New York Times
“A flavor-bomb of a comedy about survival, second chances, and digesting whatever life serves up.” – Variety

"53 % Of," Sound Theater, Center Theater at Seattle Center Armory, Seattle Center
Named for the percentage of white women who (according to initial exit polls) voted for Trump in 2016, 53% Of skewers different voter demographics: a conservative Pennsylvania moms group, their husbands, an enclave of progressive 20-something New Yorkers planning a march–as long as it doesn’t interfere with their yoga. This election year satire, set during 2016-17 with an all-female-presenting cast, holds an unfiltered mirror while asking us how truthfully we see ourselves.
All performances offer tickets at the $5 "Inclusion Rate."
