In Their Words
The primary mission of the Wayward Music Series is to provide an affordable, well-equipped venue for various kinds of new and “experimental” music with few other available venues: contemporary composition in the classical lineage by (mostly) living composers, free improvisation and the avant fringes of jazz, electronic and electro-acoustic music, sound art, and other unusual forms of sonic expression.
Wayward's venue, which can seat up to 150 guests
Financially Accessible Performances
Each artist/presenter sets their own ticket price. Most use a sliding scale model starting at $5. but no one is turned away for lack of funds.
A collection of recordings commissioned during COVID, when they could not hold public performances, is available online to stream for free at "Wayward in Limbo."
Volunteers
Most of their shows are organized by the artists themselves, and they usually recruit their own volunteers. People interested in volunteering for a particular event should contact gscchapel@gmail.com , who will put them in touch with the artist/organizer, to whom they then can offer their services and see what kind of help may be needed. Volunteers receive a free ticket
