Museum Pass Guide

The Seattle Public Library's Museum Pass program is one of the best ways to see a ton of cultural institutions on a minimal budget.  It allows you to reserve free tickets online using your library card.   King County Library also offers a similar program.

Organizations on Museum Pass include:

The Woodland Park Zoo

The Seattle Aquarium

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPop)

Seattle Art Museum

The Henry Gallery

The Burke Museum

and many others!

Each day, at 12 noon, the passes become available for 29 days from the day in question.   For example, if you're looking to attend on a Tuesday, the tickets will first hit the reservation system on the Monday four weeks prior.   All passes admit at least two people, though some include up to four.

When navigating, you can either select a particular day, to see which passes are currently available, or you can select the museum from the drop down and it will let you know which days you can still claim.

Once you've selected a date, you'll be presented with a blurb that advised you of how many people the pass will admit, and a description of the organization.

Click the button that says REQUEST, and you'll be taken to a page where you need to enter in your library card number.   The pass will then be reserved for you.

You can reserve one pass every 30 days, but if you change your mind about a future reservation, you do have the option to release for use by another patron, at which point you can reserve another.

If, at any time, you need to remind yourself of which pass you have reserved for which day, you can check your existing reservation on the Museum Pass website.

Once a pass is reserved, you will be sent the voucher via email, and on the date of your reservation, you simply need to present a print-out of your email as well as your photo ID.
