"An Enemy of the People," Union Arts Center, Downtown Seattle

The Tony Award-winning adaptation comes to Seattle! Amy Herzog’s “smart, sharp, and relevant” (Deadline) take on this Henrik Ibsen timeless classic wraps us deep in an entangled web of truth, power and complacency. Dr. Stockmann has it all – but when he uncovers a catastrophe in the making that threatens lives, he runs up against those in power. As tensions rise, Stockmann must choose: follow his conscience, and risk destruction? Or join the conspiracy?

"Stage of Fools,"  Seattle Public Theatre, Green Lake

A scrappy feminist theater company is about to go under when they receive an offer they can't refuse: has-been 80s action movie star Jake Stone will endow them with more money than they've ever dreamed of, if they'll produce King Lear, with him in the titular role. Never mind that he's an entitled, egotistical blowhard. These women can survive anything for the sake of the theater they love...right?

A limited number of "Art is for Everyone" tickets available for $10.   Click here for tickets, showtimes, and more info.

"The Roommate," ArtsWest, West Seattle

An audacious comedy that reminds us age is just a number.

Starting off as strangers, empty nester and recent divorcee, Sharon, has lost who she is, and Robyn may be trying to escape who she’s become. As they form an unlikely bond, things begin to spiral out-of-control. Secrets are revealed. Risks are taken. Their lives are forever changed.

$10 (plus $3.50 processing fee) tickets available for Saturday and Sunday shows using the promo code "Inclusion."  Click here for tickets, showtimes, and more info.

"Occurrence #14," Spectrum Dance Theater, Madrona

Spectrum Dance Theater is proud to continue its OCCURRENCE series, a bold and imaginative choreographic format first introduced on March 20, 2016, at La Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Premiered as the culminating public presentation of a U.S. Embassy residency, OCCURRENCE #1 was modeled on the spirit of a Merce Cunningham EVENT—a performance constructed of complete dances, excerpts, and new sequences arranged specifically for the site, often layered with multiple actions occurring simultaneously.

What distinguishes OCCURRENCE within Artistic Director Donald Byrd’s body of work is its deliberate embrace of experimentation, process, and choreographic play. “This is my playtime,” says Byrd. “It’s when I get to nerd out as a choreographer. I recombine past work with new material, guided by imagination and the pursuit of the next right thing to do.”

In the OCCURRENCE series, Byrd reconfigures choreographic elements like a child rearranging blocks—placing familiar sequences in new contexts, layering movement phrases not originally meant to coexist, shifting background moments to the foreground, and exploring the impact of music, or its absence. Each OCCURRENCE becomes a one-of-a-kind dance collage: ephemeral, rigorous, and alive with possibility.

$10 PWYC tickets available for all shows.  Click here for tickets, showtimes, and more info.

"Yaga," DACHA, 12th Avenue Arts,  Capitol Hill

In-over-his-head detective Rapp finds himself in an isolated, college town asking what the disappearance of a young heir to a yogurt empire has to do with a random folktale about an old witch. Matched by an apprehensive local sheriff, a university professor with a taste for younger men, and a whole cast of curious characters, the Slavic myth of Baba Yaga twists into a new labyrinth of secret lives, ancient magic, and multiple suspects in Kat Sandler’s Yaga.

Sandler’s script is thrilling, sexy, and genre defying, and Dacha’s production, virtuosic in its theatricality, is a tour-de-force by three actors. As you enter Baba Yaga’s woods, you’ll soon realize that this is not a typical night at the theater. But then again Baba Yaga is not your typical witch. She will lure you in and keep you guessing until the bitter end. So turn your back to the woods, avoid spoilers at all costs, and keep your wits about you.

"For Colored Boyz," The Underground Theatre, Base Camp Studio, Downtown Seattle

FOR COLORED BOYZ on the verge of a nervous breakdown/ when freedom ain’t enuff is an unabashed display of blackness that's unapologetic and speaks to the human heart from a black man's perspective. Originally written after the death of Michael Brown (August 9, 2014), this is a love letter to the black man in all his glory, vulnerability, psychosis, and heartbreak. This piece brings social issues to the stage and addresses issues within the black community that is taboo. Afro-centric rhythms and dance are the pulse of this piece and must be handled delicately.

FOR COLORED BOYZ resonates with its audiences no matter their ethnicity or demographic; there is a common thread that brings us all together when sitting in the dark watching this show; to go forth with understanding and love.

Standing Room tickets available online for $10.24.  Will be converted to seats if seats available.   Click here for ticket, showtimes, and more info.
